Work Sunday

Well, I didn't get out to the house today. Corey and I have been trying to get out there on Sunday afternoons to clean up. He was working today and so was I. I did get all the appliances yesterday. I took the spec sheets over to John and he didn't like the vent hood I bought. After he drew it on paper I didn't like it either. Corey and I are going to go and pick up the ice maker and return the vent hood sometime this week. I will be busy with work. Tomorrow is projecting to be our BIGGEST day and I hope to be out in stores all day.

Quick Update

I had every intention of posting the night before last and then again yesterday, but that didn't work out. Work is crazy right now.

Thursday, Corey and I met out at the house with several people around 1pm. First John (my builder who will also be making all my cabinets...he's VERY talented) and I started working on the cabinet layout and design. Then I spoke with Steelcrest about security system options. They were supposed to have us a bid by Fri at 3pm but I haven't heard back from them. Next a sound tech person from Soundz Good spoke with Corey and I about our surround sound options indoors and outdoors. Lastly the gentleman who we are ordering all our brick and stone from (he's out of Henderson) came by to measure the house. Finally about 3hrs after arriving John, Brandon, Corey and I were finished laying out all the cabinets and measuring. IT WAS COLD!

Yesterday, I called Brandon to let him know I would be in town around 4:15pm (he needed me to pick out some feet for cabinets). He told me I needed to have all my appliances picked out by Sat!!! I had no idea what to do so I went to Sears. A very nice man helped me go though brands and pick items at a reasonable price. We went with KitchenAid. The problem is the do not make all the items we need and that might look funny. Besides when Corey came home he didn't like the idea of it all that well. Brandon had given me a website of a supplier to go to. It had links to the actual manufactures websites for the brands they carried. I checked out Whirlpool (a little pricier), KitchenAid(much higher online than at Sears), Jenn-Air (getting up there on price). Then I went to Kenmore. They were not one of the brands the supplier had but the items I couldn't get in KitchenAid from Sears the gentleman had recommended Kenmore. With Kenmore Elite we are able to get everything we want under the same brand and we save a lot of money. Then Brooke calls me (she had talked to me while I was on my way to Sears) and lets me know she had checked her email while on her dinner break at work and she had a 10-12% off coupon for appliances at Sears!!! So today, after I get a new set of tires, I will be off to Sears to purchase all of our appliances.....

Pictures of Stone in different lighting...

As some of you know the stone has been the first challenge Corey and I have come to in the house. We couldn't find anything we liked. It wasn't even a matter of me liking it and him not or vice versa we just didn't like anything. The one we picked in the end is a custom stone....that's just their fancy way of saying they took 3 separate types of stone and mixed them together...but hey whatever works and we love it. Here are some pics...

OH, and the picture of the actual house is there because that's the brick we are going to have.

Update and a lot done today...

So things are starting to slllooooowwwwww down. We stopped by the house on the way back in from Shreveport and found the shingles had been delivered. I doubt they will be going up tomorrow due to the 80% chance of rain :( Good news is the plumber had made some head way. I don't know all the technical terms but there are now a lot of white pipes running around the ceilings and out the roof. The HVAC is all in and done along with the electrical (as far as it can go at this point anyway). Corey and I are meeting with our builder, John Taylor, tomorrow at 1pm to layout and design the cabinets. They are being made out of a knotty alder plywood.

As for things accomplished today...
1. We successfully picked out the pool color. It's a really dark blue/green and should look like a natural pond....NO AMY not as natural as the ones we used to dare each other to swim in LOL
2. We, also, picked out the tile. Or, I should say Corey did. It is just standard tile to go around the inside edge of the pool. It has a lot of texture and is a muted beige brown color. Real simple to go with the flagstone border around the pool.
3. There will be three...hmmm how to word this.....water spigot things...they shoot water into the pool. We picked out the design and color of those. They will be copper in color and are a simply design similar to Fleur De Li's but not the extract same.
4. We finalized the granite for the kitchen, jack-n-jill bath, powder bath, bar and are getting a price for the piece for the outside small bar out side the sliding window. All that is left is our bathroom and we are hoping there will be a 9ft by 3 1/2ft remnant show up somewhere before we need a piece. We are using remnants in the jack-n-jill, powder bath and outside small bar. The price is much better that way :)
Today we are off to Shreveport to pick out the color of the gunite (I don't know if that's how you spell that or not) and the type of tile for the pool! I'm so excited. For one thing I get to spend at least half the day with Corey. Then I'm off to Sulphur Springs and New Boston to deliver more toner!

Yesterday while running around to 12 offices I stopped in Tyler and picked out the stone. I have a picture on my phone but I just received the phone yesterday and have NO IDEA how to use the thing much less move the picture to my computer. I'll work on that later today.

A Walk Around

A Walk Around

You have to start at the bottom and work your way up. I don't understand that but I'm new....

Several pics from the begining sort of......

These are a few pics from the beginning, sort of....I lost the camera...excuse me temporarily misplaced...the camera that has the first pictures on it....I will add more

As most of you already know Corey and I are building a house. Some of you may think I'm crazy for starting a blog about this but seem to lack the skills to send an email to all the people that want to see pics. Then I get calls asking if people can pass pics along. So to make it a little easier I have decided to simply post pictures and updates on this blog. For those of you who are interested I will type details about the progress as things progress and for those that are not simply enjoy the pictures. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

This is a new venture for me. I'm doing this because it's just too hard to get info out that people are asking me for. We are currently building our dream home and this blog will hopefully keep everyone who is interested up to date.
